Georgetown Getaway

We recently spent a weekend in Georgetown, CO and wanted to share our favorite finds & recommendations! We’ve been through Georgetown on our way up Guanella Pass, but never really spent too much time in town, until now. It’s small, but super charming and has everything you need for a relaxing weekend getaway.

Where to Stay

We stayed at the Clear Creek Inn, which is a quaint hotel/inn nestled in the heart of Georgetown. The space was wonderfully updated and perfect for a weekend getaway, but you can also host events there and they have an amazing outdoor patio.

There are 4 available rooms and each of them has a different mountain view. We were in the Griffith Mountain room, which had it’s own spa tub and the comfiest bed I think I’ve ever slept in. The inn is also dog friendly which is a major plus for us when traveling in Colorado. We always want to bring our pups with us if we are able!

One of our favorite parts of the inn was the rooftop area and hot tub! There are gorgeous mountain views and it was the perfect way to relax in the chilly weather. Since there are only 4 rooms, the likelihood you get the hot tub all to yourself is pretty high. The deck would also probably be great to enjoy during the summer months.

Our new fav place to relax with a glass of wine.

The owners of the inn also offer an add on breakfast option where you can join the other guests (or not) and enjoy a unique meal each day. They make whatever they feel like on any given day but everything we had was absolutely amazing - restaurant quality or even better! We had a chilaquiles and breakfast sammy with a boozy smoothie! We definitely recommend adding on breakfast during your stay.

Good Eats

We had some amazing food while in Georgetown! We went to a place recommended by the locals and another we stumbled upon in town. We loved it all. For a small town, they have some really great restaurants!

Coopers on the Creek

Coopers was a great spot for dinner with friends or a date night! The pumpkin cheesecake was probably my favorite thing but really all of it was fabulous. The pot pie had perfectly flaky crust and the duck was perfectly cooked and seasoned. I didn’t personally try the shrimp and grits but it got high marks from our Southern friends.

511 Rose

511 Rose is probably considered Georgetown’s more upscale dining experience, but it still felt very casual and comfortable. The building is historic and was remodeled by the current owners, very cute saloon-style vibes. They had live music, friendly staff and really delicious food. We ended up ordering from their specials menu and it was all divine. We especially loved the Butternut Squash Ravioli and the Fried Burrata.

breweries and bars

Cabin Creek Brewing and Guanella Pass Brewing are the two breweries in town and they’re both worth checking out! Cabin Creek is located right on the creek and nearby the lake in Georgetown, so the patio has killer views. Their peach lactose IPA was superb. They are not dog friendly inside, which was our only negative. Guanella Pass Brewing Company is right in town and has a cute outdoor space/patio. We love taking the pups there and grabbing a slice of pizza and beer! They’re always super friendly and this is a great spot to stop on the way up Guanella Pass or just while walking around in town.

SweetEasy

As we were leaving dinner, someone directed us to Georgetown’s ‘speakeasy’, called SweetEasy. It was a bright lit but cozy space with tasty cocktails. The owners were really kind and helpful in deciding which cocktails to try! We only came for a night cap but definitely want to go back and try out some of their other creations. We also heard they have delicious pie, but we were much too full from dinner so that’s on our list for next time as well!

Bread Bar

We also took a short trip over to Silver Plume to check out Bread, the craft cocktail bar. It was highly recommended and did not disappoint. Apparently a few other folks had also heard of the bar’s reputation and it was packed! They also had live music the evening we were there, so that may have contributed to the bustling atmosphere.

After our weekend in Georgetown, we can definitely say it’s one of our new favorite mountain towns. It’s close enough to Denver to avoid most of the ski traffic but still feels like a true mountain getaway. We’re already planning our next trip back!
