A Weekend in Edwards

We took a girls’ trip to Edwards, CO and wanted to share all the details! Not only was it a great trip for friends, but it’d also be the perfect spot to vacation with family or even for a romantic weekend away from the city. The views, activities, and dining were all top notch!

Lodging

Inn at Riverwalk

We cannot recommend the Inn at Riverwalk Inn enough! Everything from the amenities (more on that later) to the friendly staff made us feel right at home. We actually spent a decent amount of time at the hotel because we were so comfortable! We also loved that it was SO dog friendly. We’re definitely bringing Coal and Rocco next time!

The Inn at Riverwalk had amenities galore! Upon checkin, we were greeted with a local beer for the nightly happy hour. We enjoyed it next to the heated pool and hot tub! One of our favorite perks was the access to the “Gear Closet”. You could check out bikes, Polaroid cameras, yard games, dog toys, and anything you could think of to make your stay more enjoyable- all for free! We actually took the Polaroid camera along for a hike and took some fun vintage-style pictures. If we had a little more time, we definitely would have planned a bike ride along the river-walk! Each morning, we kicked the day off with a visit (or 2) to their gourmet coffee bar, that featured all sorts of espresso beverages. The staff was also extremely helpful in providing recommendations for things to do around town and how to make the most out of our stay. It was these little touches that set the Inn apart from your standard hotel and made us want to plan a return trip right away! They’re even offering our followers 15% off your stay when you book through this link.

Things To Do in Edwards

Speaking of things to do, we’ll highlight what we did— from dining to exploring! The town of Edwards is such a hidden gem. You may have guessed it from the name of the inn, but the town has a river and river walk right in the middle. You can walk or bike along it for about a mile with beautiful views. The dining, shopping, and outdoor activities are also on point. We were able to walk to all of it right from our hotel - no car needed!

Dining

Beautiful!

Beautiful!

Italian restaurant, Zino, really blew us away. They had great service and martini options galore! We enjoyed every bite of the handmade pasta and pizza. Some of the standouts were the Bruschetta, Salciccia pizza and the Rigatoni with spicy smoked Colorado elk sausage. Their patio overlooks the river and mountains and even has a bocce ball court!

Hovey and Harrison was a lovely little cafe-style restaurant and market with a vibrant atmosphere. They had delicious baked goods, super fun cocktails and very tasty brunch options. Our favorite drinks were the White Out which consisted of local CO vodka, coffee liqueur, nitro cold brew and cream (YUM) and the Lavender Gin Fizz. The cocktails were just as pretty as they were delicious. The food was equally impressive, we highly recommend the Shakshuka with spiced tomato sauce, sheep's milk feta, eggs and a super-soft pita. The indoor-outdoor vibe was perfect for a nice summer day.

Farmer’s Market

We happened to be in town during the weekend farmer’s market. This market was smaller than some of the Denver ones, but our favorite find at the market was clothes from a local shop called Wild Heart. We perused the store after seeing the market selection and we all found so many cute items! Super reasonably priced and definitely something for everyone.

Hiking

There are TONS of hiking options in and around Edwards, but we chose Strawberry Lane Trail in Vail. It was labeled as an “easy” trail, but, we may have rated it moderate given the level of incline and narrow pathways with obstructing roots! Regardless of the difficulty, it was very beautiful and the majority of the trail was shaded which was a major plus! The trail is a 2.5 out and back path that begins in Vail near the ski lift. If 2.5 isn’t enough for you, you can connect to Berry Picker trail, which leads to the top of the lift. If you make it all the way up, it’s free to ride the lift back down (after your celebratory beverage, of course)!
